Hale Uhane ("House of Spirit") is a delightful creation inspired by the “Lucky Penny,” a tiny home designed and built in Portland, Oregon by Lina Menard of Niche Consulting.
Equipped with a beautiful custom staircase and cabinets constructed out of reclaimed island wood, a stunning shoji bathroom door which creates beautiful indirect lighting from the bathroom at night and another shoji door for the closet. There is a beautiful custom euro (indoor bathtub) which is filled by an on-demand hot water heating system. Hale Uhane is a cozy habitat now relatively "permanently" settled in the Kapoho area of the Big Islsand.
The owner is a lovely woman, who lives in Hale Uhane year-round, and chose fresh island colors of both the interior and exterior that speak of her love for the nearby ocean. Available living space at Hale Uhane could feasibly be doubled, by incorporating outdoor gardens, construction of a covered deck or simple pergola's to surround and extend the home. This owner has hooked up her Habitat to an existing solar and water catchment system on a sustainable farm where she is living. This is the first Habitat to have a washing machine installed in it and the owner of Hale Lokelani was inspired to follow suit.
