We have just complete our greatest creation yet! It is called Hale Lokelani “Heavenly Rose" …. It is now settled in it’s “permanent” resting place in Paauilo Mauka on the property where it was actually constructed.

There is an outdoor covered lanai in front and wrapping around three sides. With two doors, a sliding front entrance and a bathroom door where there is going to be a beautiful sink and garden shower completed very soon. The owner, Peter, will be creating a partially closed in lanai in front where the pass through accordian window over a custom mango “juice / coffee bar” will offer both indoor and outdoor seating… The dining nook has lovely shear curtains which allows for this area to transform into a cozy sleeping area when desired. The custom BEAUTIFUL mango slab table can be easily moved into the spacious kitchen area (becoming a kitchen island) or, out to the covered lanai through the large sliding glass doors for dining.

The bathroom is equipped with a washing machine and top of the line Swedish Separett composting toilet…. and has a stunning shoji door which provides beautiful lighting at night. The loft bedroom area is very spacious with the barrel roof, large openable skylight and the queen size bed is surrounded by windows on all sides. It is a very comfortable & beautiful sleeping space!!!!

The cabinets are constructed out of reclaimed woods (mahogany, sepele, mango, bamboo, and maple) mostly from the Big Island. These are custom built by Tom Thompson, a wonderful man on our team who specializes in building all of our cabinets. He also is responsible for building the mango slab dining room table and bar.

Peter, the very satisfied owner of Hale Lokelani says, “This is my dream come true! I am beyond happy in my stunning “tiny temple” designed by Barrie Rose and constructed by the amazing team of Johanna Tilbury, Bill Setterfield, Tom Thompson, & JC…

Hale Lokelani
It was a smooth and seamless process which has resulted in a very functional and beautiful home that I intend to spend the remaining years of my life in…

I have very much enjoyed the process of learning all about and installing a solar system and water catchment. The deck will be on 3 sides of the house and flowers, bamboo, and special ornamentals are being planted now which expands my living space into the beautiful hillside.”

Peter’s tiny temple is on a totally off-grid sustainable farm with many exotic fruit, nut, and spice trees which are just beginning to produce! Finally Peter is enjoying watching the birds, ocean, clouds and the stars and moon when not puttering around finishing his outdoor shower and decking!

We are currently inspired to design a self-sustainable little community on the Hamakua Coast on the Big Island!
